En Passant by Frederic Malle

My feelings about En Passant 09 Sep 2013

review by Ilsa Butler

4 out of 5 stars

"This was the first fragrance that I bought from Les Senteurs. I walked away from the shop on Elizabeth Street and couldn’t believe the aroma that I was carrying with me, it was the first time that I had understood what people mean when they speak of an emotional response to a perfume. Without really having any knowledge of the science of notes in perfume I can say that to me En Passant smells like high tea at the Ritz. I went there with my mother and the whole building smelt like lilacs and French macaroons. En Passant encapsulates this aroma and also adds something like cucumber sandwiches to complete the composition. There is a large, mature, very old fashioned syringa plant in my parents’ front garden and as you approach the gate you can smell the beautiful light mauve aroma on the breeze. This fragrance makes me feel secure, comfortable and is the olfactory sign post that I am coming home. I get this same response when I spray En Passant."
