Narcisse Noir Parfum Sample

Created in 1911. One of the great perfumes of history – the perfume that inspired a novel and a film; Gloria Swanson is said to have had the set of ‘Sunset Boulevard’ sprayed with it. Serge Diaghelev’s prima ballerinas wore it. Narcisse Noir is a daring and exotic juxtaposition of the purity of the daffodil and orange blossom with the sensuality of rose, jasmine, ambergris and musk. Vetiver and sandalwood, so typical of Caron, form the base of this bizarre and voluptuous creation.

Not for me 07 Apr 2014

"I found the complexity a little less complex than expected.Too much run of the mill noir, not enough narcisse to spike it up at the start. I love ambergris, rose and jasmine. Musk is, for me a lazy note, like many perfumes old and new. I tried, but couldn't get the layering.Happily it didn't linger on the base notes too long. I know it's an old favourite and I respect it for its history. But sadly, no, not for me.Back to Ambre Russe. Love the film though."
