A cargo ship from the French colonies in the eighteenth century laden with rum, ylang ylang, oranges, sandalwood and vanilla. Mona’s triumph here is her use of pure orchid vanilla which gives the perfume a dark, rich, woody scent – avoiding the typical sweetness of ersatz vanilla, this wonderful perfume has smoky notes of gaiac wood, leather and Haitian vetiver.
Founded in 2004, Maison Mona di Orio was created by the perfumer, Mona di Orio, and designer, Jeroen Oude Sogtoen, as a union of their mutual love of art and artisanal craftsmanship.
Mona trained in classical perfumery for ten years alongside world-renowned perfumer Edmond Roudnitska, famous for his creations like Eau Sauvage, Diorissimo for Dior, and many others.
Maison Mona di Orio defines unconventional perfume traditions that align olfactory chiaroscuro with the richness of golden age perfumery.
Maison Mona di Orio perfumes bloom on skin revealing a harmonious orchestration of light, art and nature.
In December 2011, Mona passed away leaving behind a legacy of launched and un-launched fragrances.
Jeroen Oude Sogtoen decided to ensure the story Mona and he created will be told and continued with more olfactive stories to tell and more memories to cherish; stories that perfectly align credibility, elegance and uncompromising luxury to reveal unconventional parfum traditions. For 2017 Jeroen worked together with in-house perfumer Fredrik Dalman, respecting the fundaments of Maison Mona di Orio while keeping an eye on the future.
