Duties & Taxes — What You Need to Know
At Les Senteurs, we want to make international shopping as easy and transparent as possible.
All international orders are shipped on a DAP (Delivered At Place) basis.
This means:
– UK VAT is automatically removed at checkout.
– Your parcel may be subject to local import duties and/or taxes when it arrives in your country.
– DHL will contact you directly with details of any payment required to release your order. It is your responsibility to pay these taxes.
As customs procedures and rates differ by country, we are unable to confirm exact charges in advance. However, to help you plan, here is a rough guide to what customers in different regions may typically expect:
| Country / Region | Typical Duties & Taxes | Approximate % of Order Value |
| United States | Import duty (0–6.5%) + state sales tax (varies by state) | 5–20 % |
| Canada | Duty (0–8%) + GST (5%) and/or provincial tax | 5–13 % |
| European Union | Import VAT (20–25%) + customs duty (0–6%) | 20–25 % |
| Australia | Import duty (≈5%) + GST (10%) | 10–15 % |
| Japan | Consumption tax (10%) + minor duty rates | 10–12 % |
| UAE | Duty (5%) + VAT (5%) | 10 % approx. |
| India | Duty + GST — higher rates apply | 30–40 % |
| Rest of World | Varies by destination | 5–20 % typical |
These figures are for guidance only and may vary depending on your order value, local laws, and the customs authority’s assessment.
We review this information regularly, but recommend checking with your local customs or tax office for the most accurate details before placing an order.
